Treptow

Interesting facts:

The district arose along the railway line of the Görlitz train and extends from the city centre to the city border. One of the most famous buildings of Treptow is the Treptowers on the Spree waterfront, an office complex consisting of 4 buildings (built in the 90s as part of an architecture competition). Directly in front of the complex you can see the 30 m high sculpture “Molecule Man” which marks the frontier between Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and Treptow-Köpenick. In Treptow there is also the Arena area, where you can dance in the late hours of the evening, because there are many clubs with good people and atmosphere. If you like it more quiter, you can go for long strolls along the water, through the Treptower Park and visit the soviet memorial.

Living:

In this very green city the urban scenery mostly consist of one-family-houses and terraced houses; especially in Plänterwald and Baumschulenweg. In the north of the Teltow canal you mainly find “Wilhelminian-style” buildings. In Friedrichshagen you live in restored historic buildings with green environment; a place that revolves around art in different ways. Furthermore you have a lot of brick houses and shallow buildings with cheap rents in a family friendly environment.

Public transport:

On Average the public transport is well developed. The Ringbahn touches the district in the north (S47, S45, S46). And you have the S8, S85 and S9 leading south to Grünau and Schönefeld. Furthermore you have several Bus lines.

Köpenick

Interesting facts:

Named after the earl “Jaxa von Köpenick” of the Slavic tribe the “Sprewanen”, Köpenick got connected as a border district in the course of industrialisation. It is the biggest district of the city with the lowest population density and has a beautiful historic centre alongside the river crossing of Dahme and Spree. The castle of Köpenick, the Wendenschloß is located there as well.

On the marketplace of the old town you will find Germanys smallest brewery. Köpenick owns as well the biggest forestall area (Köpenicker Forst), the biggest lake (Müggelsee) and the highest peak in Berlin (the Müggelberge).
Probably the most important standpoint of Köpenick is the Berlin airport in Schönefeld, which hopefully soon gets replaced by the new airport “Willy Brandt” (BER).

In Köpenick you find family-houses as well as beautiful old buildings to mid range rental prices.
In Rahnsdorf you will feel like in Little-Venice, because you can even row on the water from door-to-door. In Müggelheim, Schmöckwitz and Grünau you have loads of family houses in a nice and quite location. Oberschönweide just has a positive trend as Industrial – and cultural site. The housing space consist here mostly in old buildings.

Public transport:

There are two lines to Köpenick: the S8, S85, S46 (all three until Grünau) and the S47 (until Spindlersfeld), and the other the S3 (until Wilhelmshagen).
But you have busses and trams as well.
